I've been to the UK twice and this pub is easily accessible from the underground with a view of River of Thames. My husband and I ate here 3 times because it was easy and every dish we got was delicious. Mostly locals. It's not a romantic outing, it's a pub, and gets pretty busy and nosy with college people. There were waits, at times. Any group larger than 2, I suggest call in or something.
I ordered their trout, but, British trout looks like salmon and taste like it. It was delicious. My husband was missing the US and ordered their BBQ platter, also delicious. Portions are great. The next time we arrive, I ate their Sunday roast... absolutely delicious as well. Staff could be friendlier and welcoming, but, this is coming from a tourist.

My wife and I decided to explore the upper mall area. Great area, great views and this great pub.
On the recommendation of my older son who had done a pub crawl along this area, we went to lunch, a dinner and back for a lunch at the Blue Anchor.
This place is the real deal. A true English pub. I've had their lentil and lamb soup, the sausage and mash, and of course fish and chips.
All delicious and fresh. The bread that is served with the soup is out of the world good.
In my opinion, the best bread served in London.
If in this area, you must go. Of course, the beer selection is great and good beer.
Go!
Went back today for lunch with my wife and younger son. The soup of the day was onion soup. Delicious. Ordered the fish and chips and the grilled chicken. Good food. The pub is the real deal. My favorite place!
Returned this evening for their Sunday Roast. It was fabulous. Compliments to the Chef! -

Blue anchor is a really nice place. Atmosphere is great and on a hot day is a fine place to sip a few beers. The food is average but service is good.

Nice place to get a pint. Great view of the Thames. Lots of seating outside by the river

A special place which has been in business since 1722. I'm partial to any pubs which are at least 54 years older than my country is.
I'm willing to look past the friendly yet incompetent Aussie bartenders just because this simply isn't a place you come when you're in a hurry. Relax and enjoy the view.
My other complaint is that buffalo wings should be fried, not baked, but they're still pretty good and at least they're healthier this way. Plus it's not like many other places in London (or anywhere in Europe for that matter) know how to make proper buffalo wings.
